Because expanded metal is made from a solid sheet of metal, and it is not woven or welded - it can never unravel.
Flattened expanded metal is expanded metal that has been cold flattened, leaving a smooth, flat surface with diamond shaped openings. Flattened expanded metal from Direct Metals is durable, economical, versatile, and is available in many material options, such as carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. During this process, the length of the sheet is elongated, usually by about five percent.
